Maria grew up in Sheffield and has always worked and volunteered here. She studied English Language & Literature at Sheffield Hallam University and has worked in health and community related roles in the voluntary sector ever since.
Community development has always been at the heart of Maria’s work and volunteering and she has a specialist interest in supporting people living with dementia after working for Alzheimer’s Society for a number of years.
Maria is keen to make a difference to people who need support in Sheffield and has mainly worked with disadvantaged communities. At present, Maria is the Prevention and Early Intervention Manager at South Yorkshire Eating Disorders Association. Maria previously held the role of Deputy CEO of a community regeneration charity in Gleadless Valley called Reach South Sheffield where she supported a team of staff and volunteers to provide health, education and employment services to people in the area.
Becoming a Trustee with The Talbot Trust is important to Maria as she feels the Trust supports many worthwhile causes to continue their great work across our region.
