Lizzie Ellen:

Lizzie studied Modern Languages at the University of Oxford, followed by a PGCE in the same subject. She then taught French and Spanish in secondary schools for a number of years.

In 2015 she had a career change to become a Constituency Assistant working for Paul Blomfield, MP for Sheffield Central. During this time she gained a strong awareness of the health and social care issues in Sheffield and the challenges faced by healthcare professionals to meet the rising demand in healthcare needs. She also developed a knowledge of healthcare policy areas. She liaised frequently with healthcare authorities including Public Health, the CCG, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and a number of voluntary sector organisations.

In August 2017 she moved to the University of Sheffield to work as a Communications Officer, with responsibility for staff communications and developing communications for a number of strategic projects and campaigns.

She has volunteered with various third sector organisations in Sheffield, including Healthwatch and Roundabout. She is also active in her branch of the local Labour Party in Sheffield Central.
